Cheese is definitely a love language.

Valentine's Day is now one of the few (only?) real holidays that haven't been affected in some way by Covid-19. That means those lucky enough to find themselves partnered up will have to think differently in the days and weeks leading up to February 14 if they want to avoid the obvious play of ordering some chocolate and fancier-than-normal takeout.

Or you could just lean into the absurdity of these times and opt to give your loved one a heart shaped box filled with cheese instead.

This isn't some wild hypothetical, but a very real possibility thanks to a little limited-edition gifting that Wisconsin Cheese is putting together. Though it unfortunately isn't a heart made out of cheese, the gift box does feature a selection of five fine cheeses from America's Dairyland, ranging from the sweet to the sinful.

In terms of the savory side of things, the included Roth Buttermilk Blue cheese is perfect for drizzling with honey and sharing with your honey (or else pairing with wings). The Wood River Creamery Black Truffle Cheddar Gruyere is rich and sophisticated, so hopefully the target of your affection will think you are, too. From there, dive into the Cedar Grove Butterkäse (literally: "buttery cheese"), which combines a decadent taste with silky smoothness to set the mood.

It's always a good sign when your cheese spread includes a dessert course, and that's exactly what's on offer here. The Crave Brothers Chocolate Mascarpone is a divine companion for strawberries, in case you feel like getting some fruit in your diet. If you're really ready to party, though, Henning's Maple Bourbon Cheddar, featuring the sweet notes of maple, caramel, and molasses is the note you'll want to end things on.

Just like love and everything else worth having in life, this heart-shaped cheese collection is something money can't buy. Instead, 500 lucky contest winners who enter at Wisconsincheese.com by January 31 will be able to nominate their partner in cheese to receive this bounteous gift. If you're single and ready to mingle with some dairy, though, I'm sure you could self-nominate. After all, you have to love yourself first.
