Place 2 tablespoons lime juice on a separate shallow plate. Dip rims of 2 rocks glasses into the lime juice, then dip into the salt and zest mixture, coating the rims with the mixture. Add ice to each glass. Transfer the remaining lime juice from the plate to a cocktail shaker; add 1/2 cup ice, tequila, orange liqueur, agave syrup, the remaining salt and zest mixture from the plate and the remaining 2 tablespoons lime juice.
