Sure, the lemon/maple/cayenne combo may evoke the Master Cleanse detox, but they just taste great together, especially in a glass of bubbles.
Combine maple syrup, lemon juice and cayenne in a small jar with a tight-fitting lid. Shake or stir well to incorporate. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight. (This will decrease the potency of the cayenne aroma when sipping the drink.)
To prepare cocktail: Add 1 teaspoon of the spiced maple syrup to each of 6 Champagne flutes. Slowly top with sparkling wine, pouring at an angle to reduce foam. (Refrigerate the remaining syrup for up to 2 weeks.)
To make ahead: Refrigerate spiced maple syrup (Step 1) for up to 2 weeks.
