I made this because (with a few minor tweaks) I had all the ingredients on hand. And boy, am I glad I did! It is delicious! I used 2 cans of tomato sauce and one of diced tomatoes instead of the crushed tomatoes, vegetable broth instead of water, and evaporated instead of fresh milk. I think the amount of chili flakes is perfect.
My go to soup I served this on Christmas Eve for my non-Oyster Stew loving guests. They loved it and asked for seconds. I used crushed tomatoes with basil already in it. I normally have all of the other ingredients on hand so this is a great fallback recipe to have. Pros: A pantry staple
