  • Position rack in upper third of oven; preheat broiler. Line a broiler pan with foil.

  • Gently mix beef, mushrooms, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire, thyme, salt and pepper in a medium bowl until combined. Shape into 4 patties and place on the prepared pan. Broil until cooked through, 4 to 6 minutes per side.

  • Meanwhile, toast bread. Rub each slice of toast with garlic.

  • Place 1 patty on each piece of toast, top each with 2 teaspoons relish and cover with a slice of cheese. Remove foil and place the sandwiches on the pan; broil until the cheese is just melted, 30 to 60 seconds.

i am cooking these for the second time tonight and they are very good! they are juicy and you might think thats a lot of mushrooms but you can't even taste them in the burger and it spreads out the meat for me with one lb and hamburger it made 5 patties. i didn't use the relish but my husband and son both loved these! with some organic mac-n-cheese and broccoli yummy! Yum! I made modifications because my boyfriend does not like strong mushroom flavor. -1 cup portabella -2 garlic cloves minced mixed into meat -made my own rye breadcrumbs -served with 2% swiss spicy/sweet mustard and organic onion rings He loved them and we will make again!:) Read More

Juicy and so flavorful! This is one my absolute favorite go-to recipes. I'm not a fan of relish but it works so beautifully here. These are delicious! I think I put a little too much fresh Thyme in mine so watch for that. Also I agree with the PP I ended up with full and thick burgers so there was definitely enough meat mixture to make 5 patties. Excellent taste and even my PICKY toddler loved it!! Read More
