EatingWell's Editorial Guidelines Published on April 26, 2022 Share Tweet Pin Email On April 25, 2022, Lakeside Refrigeration Services recalled 120,872 pounds of refrigerated ground beef products. The recall includes brands such as Thomas Farms, Nature's Reserve, Tajima, Marketside Butcher, Weis and Southeastern Grocers, Inc. (SEG). These ground beef products are being recalled due to potential E. Coli 0103 contamination. Products to be avoided bear the establishment number "EST. 46841" and images of product labels can be found at this link to the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) website. The problem was discovered when the imported products were given a routine test by FSIS. The contaminant discovered was non-0157 Shiga toxin-producing E. Coli (STEC) 0103. There have been no confirmed reports of illnesses due to product consumption, but people can become ill two to eight days (average of three to - fourdays) after consuming the organism. Treatment includes normal supportive care and ample hydration, so be sure to speak to your doctor if you are experiencing any symptoms. Infection from E. Coli 0103 typically subsides after one week, but can last longer in severe cases. If you have ground beef products in your fridge or freezer from an affected brand with the identified establishment number, FSIS advises discarding them or returning them to your place of purchase.
