Just in time for the cookies I’m baking this weekend!
Chocolate Coconut Macaroons

It’s clear that TikTok has become the place to learn fun, and oftentimes wacky, hacks for cooking. From easy tips for making delicious salad dressing to a brilliant method for cleaning greasy containers (which I now use on a routine basis), the latest trick comes just in time for the holiday season—and more specifically for holiday baking.

TikTok user @5.minute.recipes shared a festive hack that will make decorating desserts super simple. Instead of using a microwave or a double boiler to melt chocolate, all you need is a pot of water and your chocolate bar of choice. When the water is barely simmering, hold the chocolate bar in the pot of boiling water (but don’t fully submerge it) with a pair of tongs to let it melt. Although the TikTok user doesn’t specify how long to hold the chocolate bar in the water, we think about 30 seconds should suffice.

Then, snip off a small corner of the wrapper and you’ll have instantly pipable melted chocolate. The best part of this hack is that it eliminates the extra step of transferring melted chocolate into a piping bag (read: less mess and hassle!).

While 5.minute.recipes uses the chocolate to pipe words for decoration, you could easily use the chocolate for cakes, cookies or any other holiday treats (Try it with our Vegan Gingerbread Cookies or Chocolate Coconut Macaroons). Whether you use white, dark or milk chocolate, this hack is sure to result in a chocolaty and delicious dessert!
