EatingWell's Editorial Guidelines Published on November 24, 2020 Share Tweet Pin Email Sure, we could live on a steady diet of Trader Joe's current fan-favorite products like cauliflower gnocchi, Mandarin orange chicken and Cheddar cheese with caramelized onions. (And of course no trip to TJ's is complete without grabbing some Everything But the Bagel Seasoning and a bottle of wine or two.) But we're always excited when the Trader Joe's team leaks details about what's coming soon to the supermarket's aisles so we can mix up our meal plan to keep things fresh and diversify our intake. ABLOKHIN/GETTY IMAGES On the latest episode of the Inside Trader Joe's podcast, hosts Tara Miller and Matt Sloan reminded us that the time between Thanksgiving and the new year truly is the most wonderful time of the year—'tis the new holiday product season! Keep your eyes out for these items rolling out in a Trader Joe's near you in the next few weeks. 9 New Trader Joe's Products for the 2020 Holiday Season 1. Beef en Croute Hit fast-forward on a fancy-feeling dinner with this returning seasonal favorite: frozen, oven-ready beef Wellington. "It's a beef tenderloin topped with mushrooms and wrapped in puff pastry," Miller says. "It's that really classic profile that takes a long time to make and is a little bit challenging, but we have it in the freezer." Just thaw it in the refrigerator overnight, cook until the beef is medium-rare and a restaurant-quality dinner is done. 2. The Spectacled Bear Coffee "The value is just unbelievable," Sloan says of this new fair-trade organic medium roast coffee. Grown in the Andes Mountains in Peru, it's called The Spectacled Bear "because of a bear that lives in this area whose markings make it look like they wear glasses." Sloan explained that these coffee beans are from 330 small farmers. "About a quarter of them are actually women farmers and they're running this group to provide these beans," he says. 3. Olive-Stuffed Chicken Bites Similar to a dressed-up meatball, these bites are made with manzanilla olives surrounded by ground chicken that's then breaded. Enjoy them as a holiday appetizer (alongside a martini, if you please) or stuffed inside a hoagie for a tasty meatball sandwich. 4. Chardonnay Toscano Cheese Every year, Miller says she looks forward to snacking on the seasonal Cinnamon-Rubbed Toscano and Syrah-Soaked Toscano, and "this year, we decided to do a white wine version of the Toscano cheese. So basically, the wheel of this cheese is soaked in chardonnay, just like the syrah version is soaked in syrah," she explains. "So the outside of the cheese absorbs more of the flavor than the inside of the cheese. As you eat through the wedge of this cheese, the outside of the wedge definitely has more of the chardonnay flavor than the inside of the wedge." 5. Nøkkelost In other cheese news, you'll soon be able to score a unique Norwegian cheese called Nøkkelost at Trader Joe's. "It reminds me of Havarti, of a delicious sort of creamy, bouncy, springy textured Havarti, with the interesting inclusion of cumin seeds," Sloan says. "I think this would be really great melted on sandwiches, a grilled cheese sandwich [or] as part of a cheese platter." 6. Black Truffle Cashew Pesto Sauce Made with grana padano cheese, this is "a wonderful, wonderful, very rich unctuous pesto, again for the truffle lover," Sloan says. They suggest tossing it with noodles, naturally, or spooning over roasted potatoes or using it as a sauce for baked white fish. Confession: I Cannot Shop At Trader Joe's—Here's Why 7. Truffle Hot Sauce with Black Truffles "We've learned over the last several years, our customers love truffles," Miller says. TJ's devotees are also very loyal to their hot sauce brands, so the product development team combined those two flavor faves together in one tasty condiment. Surprisingly affordable for having black truffles in the mix, according to Sloan, this would make a thoughtful food gift for those who like it hot or would also taste incredible drizzled over mac and cheese. 8. Maple Espresso Black Tea Can't decide between coffee or tea with dessert? Have both at once with this hybrid drink that "combines a maple-flavored black tea with ground espresso in a teabag," Miller says. With just 20 milligrams of caffeine per cup, it won't leave you buzzing all night and "has a nice subtle maple-y flavor to it. It's not too overwhelming," she adds. (ICYMI, drinking coffee and tea has been linked to lower mortality in those with type 2 diabetes, so drink up!) 9. Handcrafted Soap Set And since no trip to Trader Joe's is complete without a trip to the beauty aisle, in our opinion (#selfcare), Miller and Sloan announced the brand's newest bath product. This slab soap set includes three varieties: "There's a charcoal and tea tree, a lavender eucalyptus and a coffee soap too that just smells so good," Sloan says. Was this page helpful?
