EatingWell's Editorial Guidelines Share Tweet Pin Email Summer is the best time of year to take advantage of seasonal fruits and vegetables. This year in particular, farmers are in need of your support during their most prolific months. Though there are plenty of farmer's markets that are safely open for in-person shopping, this Farms That Are Delivering database allows you to order exactly what you want from the comfort of your own home. How to Support Local Farmers During the Coronavirus Pandemic The use of the database couldn't be easier. Simply type in where you live, and the program searches through over 1,300 farms to identify those in your area that are delivering produce, meat, eggs or even dairy. They specify whether farms are delivering, offering pickup or both, and link you directly to the farms' website to order online. The results surface based on proximity to you and also include any information they have on farming practices, including whether they are certified organic, whether they use antibiotics and more. This Farms That Are Delivering database was created to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers and make healthy foods more accessible, even if you are trying to stay home. This helps farmers cut down on food waste, which became a huge problem during the pandemic, while allowing you to support business and strengthen your local food system in times when we need them more than ever.
