“Guacamole is extra, if that’s ok?” is a phrase I regularly hear when I go to Chipotle. And at this point, I’m used to approving the extra charge to my burrito bowl. But in honor of National Avocado Day, Chipotle is offering a temporary reprieve from their usual charge by offering free guacamole.

On Friday, July 31, Chipotle Rewards members will get free guacamole when they purchase any entrée. And if you’re not a rewards member, you can sign up as late as July 30 to be eligible for the offer. If you want to claim this reward, you do have to order your meal via the Chipotle mobile app or online at Chipotle.com.

In addition to this offer, Chipotle is launching their “Unlock the Guac” challenge today for a chance to win free guacamole for a year. The company has created six rewards accounts (one for each ingredient in its guacamole recipe) that each come loaded with 52 free guacamole coupons.

In order to win access to one of these accounts (and all that free guac!), you’ll need to guess one of the secret passwords. To help guac-lovers out, Chipotle will be releasing hints to the passwords on their Instagram account. To participate in the challenge, customers can text their password guesses to 888-2222 during one of six guessing periods, which will be announced on Chipotle’s Instagram.

If you miss out on the free guac contest, you can always make your own with our recipe for Almost Chipotle's Guacamole. And if you’d rather make a homemade version of the entire meal, try our recipes for Carne Asada Tacos or Chipotle Chicken Quinoa Burrito Bowl.
