This Sanitizing Steam Mop Makes Cleaning As Easy As Can Be
Because of the coronavirus, we're in our homes more—cooking, working, taking care of kids, maybe cleaning here and there and trying to relax when we can. I can say for certain that being home more has certainly resulted in a messier house that I can't seem to keep tidy! But when I bought the nifty Shark Genius Steam Mop (Buy it! amazon.com, $120), things changed. While it doesn't solve my clutter problem, it does keep my floors sparkly clean and sanitized, which is very satisfying and a major stress-reducer. Here's what I love about it.
It uses only steam to clean up tough messes & sanitize floors
I love that I don't need to use smelly, harsh cleaners to get my floors clean and sanitized. All you do is pour water into the holding tank, plug in the power cord and wait a few seconds for the mop to start steaming and you're ready to clean! There's also a neat steam-blast feature that targets stuck-on messes and makes it easier to wipe them up.
The makers of this mop say that the sanitizing feature was shown to kill 99.9% of common household bacteria when tested, which, combined with the fact that it doesn't require cleaning agents, may put parents of young kids and pet owners at ease. This mop has been around for a while, so I doubt they did any specific testing around the coronavirus (but keep in mind that the main transmission method for the coronavirus is human contact rather than from surfaces).
The mop pad picks up everything and is machine washable
There's nothing more frustrating than having to go around a newly mopped room wiping up streaks of dried dirt that didn't get picked up by the mop. I was so relieved to find that I didn't have to do that with this mop. The thick "dirt-grip" mop pads really pick up everything and amaze me with how dirty they are when I'm done. Plus, they're machine washable, which means no more wasting flimsy mop pads that need to be tossed after one use.
It's smart to do a quick vacuum first to pick up larger pieces of dirt and things like pet hair (which is abundant in my house), and then this mop does the rest of the work.
The floors dry almost instantly
Part of the reason why I hated mopping in the past is that the floors seemed to take forever to dry and, before they did, someone (aka my husband or my dog) would walk through the newly cleaned room and leave dirty little footprints behind them. The hot steam this mop uses dries quickly, so there's no need to block off a whole room for 15-plus minutes for things to dry.
It's well worth the money
Since you don't need to buy additional cleaning agents and the mop pads are reusable, the $120 price point is well worth it for this effective tool. I bought this exact model because a friend recommended it to me and it had the steam-blaster feature, but there are other slightly cheaper models, too, if you're looking for a lower price point.
