EatingWell's Editorial Guidelines Published on April 21, 2020 Share Tweet Pin Email The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the way many of us shop and more people are turning to online delivery to avoid crowded grocery stores. Aldi is the latest store to partner with Instacart and deliver goods directly to customers' front doors—including wine—and we couldn't be more excited. Getty 10 Must-Have Tips for Online Grocery Shopping Right Now How It Works Aldi's new grocery delivery service is available nationwide (check here to see if your local store is participating). Once you confirm your store's participation, create an account and begin shopping on Aldi's website. It's as simple as adding items to your cart. Online prices may be higher than in-store ones, in order to account for the personal shopping costs of Instacart. But, you can still apply coupons to your online order (just click the apply coupon button if it's applicable to the item). After you complete your order, an Instacart shopper will go to the store to fulfill it. Once the shopper has started your order, you cannot make changes. However, if an item you've selected is unavailable, your shopper will contact you with replacement suggestions or allow you to cancel that item if they can't find what you need. Due to high demand, orders must be a minimum of $35 and additional fees (it was $3.99 in our area) can apply for the delivery service. There's also a small fee for alcohol (it was $4 in our area for several bottles of wine). You can place orders up to seven days in advance. When you check out, Aldi and Instacart will allow you to select a delivery time frame that works best for you. They'll also send alerts with an estimated time of arrival on the day of your delivery. This new delivery service is a great alternative if you're looking to practice social distancing and minimize your trips to the grocery store. Although you don't need to worry about sanitizing your groceries, go ahead and wash your hands (and don't forget to tip your shopper!). Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why!
