Jeni's Vegan Ice Cream Recalled for Potentially Containing Dairy
The ice cream company sold this product in Publix, The Fresh Market and Whole Foods Market locations nationwide.
Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams is recalling one of its vegan flavors for potential milk contamination. The company's Cold Brew with Coconut Cream Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert was recalled after a consumer complaint of an allergic reaction.
The products under recall can be identified with the following batch codes: 19-016, 19-086 and 19-154. They were sold at Publix, The Fresh Market and Whole Foods Market locations nationwide, as well as online, in pint packages. Anyone who has purchased one of these pints is encouraged to dispose of the product and send a photo of the batch code to Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams for an exchange or full refund.

"We have strict sourcing rules and inspections in place so that we can ensure safe, vegan offerings," said John Lowe, Jeni's CEO, in a press release. "We have isolated the issue to the sorbet swirl in the flavor. Our investigation is ongoing, but we strongly suspect that a dry ingredient, used only in this flavor, came into contact with dairy powder as the dry ingredient was being produced for us in a partner's facility."
