Fans of turmeric and Trader Joe's have been anxiously awaiting the grocer's take on a non-dairy golden milk (a therapeutic milk tea popular in the wellness community) ever since the company announced the arrival of one in an April podcast episode. Now shoppers can finally get their hands on it! (Shout out to @TraderJoesAficianado for spotting it.)
Trader Joe's Turmeric Ginger Coconut Beverage is made with filtered water, coconut cream, honey, turmeric powder, ginger juice, natural flavors, sea salt, several gums for texture, cinnamon and black pepper. It's not entirely vegan-because of the honey-but this non-dairy drink is sure to please fans of golden milk who love convenience.
Even better, this new TJ's product is relatively healthy! The beverage is 80 calories per cup packing 5 grams of fat (all of which, alas, are saturated), 8g carbs, 6g sugars (all of which are added) and 1g protein.
It's not exactly packed with nutrition, but we could all use some more turmeric in our diets for its anti-inflammatory, sleep-promoting and mood-boosting properties, and it would make for a cozy nightcap to help you actually make it to bed on time. We're also dying to try it with a little espresso for a morning kick!
Be on the lookout for Trader Joe's new Turmeric Ginger Coconut Beverage near the shelf-stable non-dairy milks. One quart will only set you back $2.69!
If you're trying to watch your saturated fat intake, our Turmeric Latte recipe boasts zero grams while still being creamy and delicious. It's also naturally vegan, sweetened with maple syrup instead of honey.
