Boost your fiber intake. When it comes to whole grains, don't be afraid to try new additions to your meals. Add barley to your vegetable soup or craft your own pilaf with a mixture of spices, rice and broth; for added substance (and fiber), chop up some dried fruit to throw in the mix - a faintly sweet taste here and there will complement the pilaf's otherwise nutty flavor.
