Embrace the flavors of the South with our healthier soul food recipes.

What is soul food? Soul food is an African-American cuisine with a Southern influence and typically features fried chicken and fish, cornbread, grits, cobblers and more Southern foods. Often traditional soul food recipes are loaded with excess fat, calories and sodium. We’ve lightened up these soul food recipes by emphasizing the healthy vegetables often found in soul food, such as black-eyed peas, collard greens, okra and sweet potatoes. We also oven-fry our fish and chicken recipes to cut back on saturated fat from traditional frying. Try our Grits & Greens Casserole for a traditional soul food side dish paired with our Oven-Fried Chicken on a Stick for a lighter, healthier Southern meal.
