Many of these recipes are variations on the same basic recipe: use a tortilla and add beef, turkey or black beans; coat chicken and bake it; make noodles/pasta and add a sauce. In my mind, these websites should show how to make "master" recipes along with ideas for variation so readers can adapt them to suit their own kids.
My solution to this entire issue is to make a meal from which I can easily pull out the kids' meal. For example, if the adults are having sauteed spinach with garlic, the kids get raw spinach with either a sesame oil-soy dipping sauce or a lemon juice-olive oil dipping sauce. If the adults are having chicken, I take some of the sauteed chicken out of the pan for the kids and then finish the sauce for the adults. The plus of this method is that the children can try the adult's food and discover new tastes without having the "new" food be their entire meal.
