Sweet potatoes are usually lighter skinned than a yam and more expensive but worth it. The meat is more a yellow than orange. If all else fails, ask the produce man at the supermarket.

I've been trying to find a true sweet potato, my husband is telling me the large bag of potatoes I am buying at SAMs club or costco are yams, but it's labeled sweet potato , I've googled reserched and can't find a good description of a sweet potato. Why are they labeling yams a sweet potatoe? They have the color and the tyre of a yam, please help explain this , I love my large bag of veggies but would love them more if I knew they were really sweet potato and not yams, sweet photos to are way better than yams for you
