Albacore tuna has much higher levels of mercury than chunk light tuna. The USDA has even removed canned albacore for Women, Infants and Children food packages due to concerns about high levels of mercury.

Howabout trying some recipes that people will actually try? The motive is saving money so I don't see the point in even looking at a recipe that calls for items that arent in the average american pantry.

I agree that for the average person (like me) sitting at home reading this, most of the recipes call for things that are too expensive or exotic. There are very few recipes I would even attempt. I have a blue collar working man and sending him to work with a packed lunch including a Mediterranean Wrap would generate laughs. We are the average family with 2.5 kids and on a very limited budget so I would appreciate more down to earth,(low price, easy ingriedient) recipes.

I think the comments regarding "exotic" and expensive ingredients are interesting. What can be less exotic and cheap than a can of Cannellini beans, a can of tuna, and some black olives? A little olive oil (yes more expensive, but much more healthy) some lemon juice, a bit of lettuce, and you've got a wonderful lunch that emulates the Mediterranean diet that keeps people fit.
Exotic and expensive is red meat every day. The comment that your blue collar man would elicit laughs with a healthy lunch is a cop-out. Consider the fact that maybe he just doesn't want to give up his meatloaf sandwiches.
My meat-loving husband learned to love our simple lunches - a couple radishes, a few berries or grapes, a piece of good bread, a slice of cheese, some olives, raw carrots, cherry tomatoes, and a small slice of salami or turkey.

These comments are so sad. There's nothing exotic about this recipe. To the person with the blue collar husband: Average boring food is not worth reading about, and neither are you.

I made my own version of the tuna salad (just Miracle Whip, celery, and a shot of Tabasco sauce). I put the tomato slices and cheese on top, per recipe. This tuna melt was AWESOME! Thank you for the idea.

why would anybody eat canned tuna at all? industrial fishing is destroying the planet quicker than any other branch of human activities.
and most of tuna fishing is not sustainable, you can choose for a recipe a brand of canned tuna that you think is sustainable, but most of the people will substitute it with the first can of tuna they see in the supermarket.
