READER'S COMMENT:
"This smoothie is quite tasty. I didn't add any sugar but did add a bit of toasted wheat germ. Sweetness was perfect for my taste, but the kids thought it was a bit tart. Either way we all loved it and have made a few times.q "

I don't understand why they recommend Splenda either!!! It is not a healthy sweetener!! Unless they are being compensated for saying that.

If you look at the top of this recipe it shows that it was published "From EatingWell: Summer 2004, The EatingWell Diabetes Cookbook (2005)." First of all they are using a sugar substitute because it's in the Diabetes Cookbook. And if I remember right, back then Splenda was the best sugar substitute availiable. Second, there was a problem with Stevia and the FDA back then which has since been resolved.

Very good. Add some 0 carb protein powder and you won't be hungry for 4 hours.

I love this smoothie! I add 4 teaspoons of honey, though, as a Splenda substitute. It's delicious and natural!
