A spicy 'note' with each sip

This is not your mama's hot chocolate. The chili should peek through with each sip (with a spicy 'hola'). If still in doubt as to pairing hot chocolate and chili, consider sipping this recipe while watching Julliette Binoche whip up her Myan-spiced brew in the movie 'Chocolate.'

Pros: Good with skim milk for less calories

Actually, this was how hot coco was originally made. Westerners now are only discovering that hot cocoa wasn't originally created with the cocoa bean and pounds of sugar for a sickenly sweet hot drink.

Great variation

The trick with this is just a tiny pinch of the pepper for that exotic flavor. I can see how it could go wrong if you add too much...but loved the taste. The spices, if done right turn out great! Love it!

Chili in Hot Chocolate! Sounds disgusting, I would not even waste my good cocoa or milk on this. Why not throw in some bacon bits and string beans while you are at it.
The nutmeg and cinnamon and even a squirt of whip cream will do fine. Keep it simple.

I love hot chocolate and not afraid to try something new. I had a bad feeling about the chili powder, and I was right, it just doesn't fit. I'm going to stick with the original. There is another recipe on the site that involves Kahlua. Can't go wrong with that :) i'll try that next.
