I tried this recipe this week for the first time in preparation for May when I'll be going meatless for the whole month. The recipe was delicious and my husband didn't miss the meat one bit!
Portobello "Philly Cheese Steak" Sandwich
Cheese steaks are a Philadelphia tradition: thin slices from a rich and very fatty slab of beef, fried up and topped with a heavy cheese sauce. We've cut down on the fat considerably - but not on the taste. All it needs is a cold beer or a glass of pinot noir on the side. Make this vegetarian by using vegetable broth in place of chicken stock.

My friends were asking me for this recipe weeks later! Very delicious! Will definitely make again.
I think I saw somewhere this sandwich tastes exactly like a Philly cheese steak. That's not true. However, it's a great substitute. Just don't expect it to taste exactly like that.
It's pretty good, though!
I usually don't like mushrooms but this sandwich was awesome. I am a native Philly girl and have not had a cheese steak in YEARS since becoming a veg. It was awesome!
This was incredible!! I feel like I consumed something I should feel guilty for...but no! It's healthy! AMAZING SANDWICH! My husband said it was better than the meaty philly! :) A++!
