I would highly recommend that you substitute the canola oil for RAW UNREFINED COCONUT OIL.
Why? Because coconut oil is the best for high temp cooking. Plus the added benefit is the good fat your body recognizes and is much healthier for you. And,,,, you probably don't know this but,,,,did you know certain types of fat actually burn fat off your body. Stay away from hydrogenated oils of any type. Your body chemistry does not recognize this man-made product and will only store it as fat in you.

Just because it is coconut oil doesn't mean you'll have a coconut taste to your foods. This oil is absoultely fantastic to use for any type cooking. And it is much healthier for you.

Anonymous, you need to read more about coconut oil. What I read would disagree with your statement. I use coconut oil, glee, lard, butter, and olive oil as my main oils in my cooking.

Canola oil isn't man made. And coconut oil is super high in saturated fat. It's one of the worst oils for you actually...

This is now one of my regular recipes...it's great as a dinner with rice and corn (oh ha, kind of like in the picture!), and the next day sliced cold on a salad. YUM!!!

This is a really great recipe. I'm not crazy about the sweet/meat thing so I'd prefer it a bit spicier but my husband loved it.

I used apple juice in place of apple cider which gave it a little sweeter taste.
