Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe

Makes: About 1 1/2 cups sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup low-fat milk
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, preferably Dutch-process
  • 1/4 teaspoon instant coffee granules dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1/2 cup nonfat sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips
  • Pinch of salt

Preparation

  1. Whisk together milk, cocoa and coffee in a small heavy saucepan until smooth. Whisk in condensed milk and sugar. Whisking constantly, bring to a simmer over low heat; scrape bottom of pan frequently with whisk to prevent sauce from sticking and scorching. Continue to simmer for 1 minute, whisking constantly.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, chocolate chips and salt.

Tips & Notes

  • Make Ahead Tip: Refrigerate in a glass jar for up to 2 weeks. Reheat in the microwave or by placing the jar in a pot of simmering water.
