Very finely chopping onion, mushrooms and carrots in the food processor is not only fast—it makes the vegetables hard to detect for picky eaters. They also form the base for the sauce of this ground beef skillet supper. Make it a meal: Serve with a green salad.

Recently used a hand food grinder on left-over steak and left over beef hot dogs, combined with ground up
stir-fry frozen veg, frozen cut spinach, and left-over Basmati Rice,added a can of sliced Black olives and some chopped Kalamata Olives, ground Sea Salt & freshly ground Pepper Medley. Pan cooked/heated all in a skillet with XV Olive Oil and served in whole wheat pita pockets. Plan to add mushrooms & sour cream when I use those leftovers, and can use in tortillas with even more veg (Lettuce, Tomato, Onion.)
Who ever thinks left-overs are boring just isn't trying!

This is one of my favorite recipes of all time! Every time we make it my boyfriend and I end up putting more and more mushrooms and carrots. Very hearty but needs salt! I think I'll try some others' suggestions on here and either substitute broth for water or use a broth with full sodium. Of course, that makes it less healthy, but an extra walk or two around the neighborhood and you should be fine!

I love the idea that you can get all of the veggies into this dish to make it so healthy. I didn't, however, like the fact that there was, basically, only the thyme for seasoning. It was so overpowering that it was really the only thing we could taste. It's a wonderful bas recipe, but the seasoning needs to be changed and definitely should be more suited to the dish. Otherwise, it was a great easy meal.
