I used ground turkey instead of hamburger. I did use the food processor and my veggies were not mushy. They were perfect, just don't over process. In addition, I added tarragon to this and a touch of cinnamon. I added a half of a bun to the plate to soak up the extra sauce. Will make this again.
Very finely chopping onion, mushrooms and carrots in the food processor is not only fast—it makes the vegetables hard to detect for picky eaters. They also form the base for the sauce of this ground beef skillet supper. Make it a meal: Serve with a green salad.

In order to make this kosher, I replaced the sour cream with coconut milk I had on hand. It was delicious! You could probably leave it out altogether by adding a little more broth.
I made this using turkey mince, the pureed veggies seemed to bulk out the meat and create a nice thick sauce. I also added paprika, and tomato paste for a stroganoff style feel. It was very yummy, and the kids LOVED it. I think you could even add some red lentils if you want extra fibre. I didn't add the extra water and therefore didn't need the flour.
I read all these reviews for this dish. I wanted to make it since it seemed like it should be good, but there were so many bad reviews. I made this last night and made all the modifications that were suggested. I did the following:
-Used all broth, no water
-Added a lot more garlic
-Added just a dash of thyme (I'm not a fan anyway)
-Added some red wine after adding the veggies
-Chopped the veggies, didn't use food processor
With these modifications, it was really tasty and flavorful! I used low-sodium broth and didn't need to even salt the dish before eating.
I put the veggies in a food processor per the recipe because I needed to hide them from my kids. For those that complained they became mushy and virtually unnoticeable, that was the whole point. It will be too bland if you don't add additional spices to the ground beef. In addition to the saeasons it called for, I added tumeric, season salt, dried parsley, some spanish spices. At the very end, I added lots of shredded sharp cheddar cheese. 3 teens and 3 per-teens devoured it. None was the wiser that there were veggies included ;)
