I made this for a BBQ and it was a big hit. I did use green peas because that is what I had. The flavor was unique, fresh, and aromatic.
Greek Split Pea Spread
One taste of this simple, rustic spread—a popular meze or appetizer throughout Greece—and you are transported to a little seaside taverna. The base of the spread is yellow split peas, a healthful legume that requires no presoaking and cooks in less than 45 minutes. Enjoy this appetizer as the Greeks do, with a generous drizzle of your favorite extra-virgin olive oil.
3 Reviews for Greek Split Pea Spread
I wasn't going to make a separate trip to a different store to find yellow split peas so I used green. I think the only thing I'll do differently next time is use just a little less water in cooking the peas to make it thicker. My friends all asked for the recipe!
Yum. Yum. Yum. So fresh tasting!
