Soy sauce and five-spice powder infuse your favorite cut of meat or chicken with intense flavor. For perfect balance, pair with Scallion Ginger Dipping Sauce.


Five-Spice Marinade Recipe

8 servings, enough for 2 pounds of beef, duck, lamb or chicken

Active Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 1 clove garlic, grated

Preparation

  1. Whisk soy sauce and sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in five-spice powder and garlic. Marinate: 1 to 2 hours. Discard marinade before grilling.
