Our updated Sloppy Joe takes lean ground beef and adds chopped cremini mushrooms and diced fresh plum tomatoes, all in a zesty sauce. Served on a whole-wheat bun, it's a hearty dinner sandwich that will please adults and kids alike.

This is so good! Instead of the ketchup/chili sauce I used tomato puree, added 2 cloves of crushed garlic, a liberal sprinkling of chili powder, a dash of cayenne, and just a bit of honey. Looking forward to the leftovers!

My husband doesn't normally like sloppy joes because they normally are greasy.
He gives the thumbs-up for this sloppy joes.





The flavors in this recipe hit the spot. I did use ground turkey meet with a dash of Worcestershire sauce and a little salt and pepper to begin the dish. I also added a small or 15 oz can of crushed organic fire roasted tomatoes instead of the chopped plum tomatoes. This will, indeed, be a "go to" big treat for us.
