This is the "healthy" version?

I use chocolate (low-fat or fat free) frozen yogurt instead of full fat ice cream and fat free milk. I also add a few teaspoons of good quality unsweetened cocoa powder to the recipe. Before serving, I add a few ounces of sparkling water or seltzer water. ~ Also yummy with a little expresso mixed in for a mocha-ish flavor!

I haven't even tried this, but...

Why wouldn't you just make yourself a chocolate milkshake as a dessert once in a while? If you drink this, it's gonna taste different and then you're just going to crave more sugar.

You can do better, Eating Well...

The only reason this is "healthier" is because the serving size is smaller - the ingredients are the same as those in a regular malted milkshake. Of course I'm going to save calories if the amounts of ingredients are cut in half! How about using low-fat chocolate milk or frozen yogurt instead of ice cream, silken tofu to give it texture, and then the malt powder? You could even add cocoa powder to make it more chocolaty if you want.

This wasn't anything special.
I used chocolate frozen yogurt and ovaltine powder because it's malt powder. There's hardly any actual "shake"...you're lucky if you get half a cup. I ended up adding another half cup of frozen yogurt, but next time, I'm just going to my my frozen yogurt.
Quite disappointing.
