My husband travels a lot and it is hard to fix dinner just for me and an 8 and 9 year old.

Susan, Ogden, UT
You gotta be kidding! How hard can it be to spend time alone with the kids helping them learn to fix healthy things they like! Be creative and have fun :o)

Nancy, Round Rock, TX
I like these ideas for breakfast, dinner and snacks. My struggle is getting a healthy lunch to my son during the school year. His school serves Dominoes Pizza EVERYDAY! Do you have any healthy sandwiches recipes? My basic turkey sandwich wasn't enough to beat out my competition (Dominoes).

Karen, White Bear Lake, MN
Excellent site! Baby boomer, it was nothing for me to come from work and do full course healthy meals. Takes the effort. Friendly receipes, easy to put together, my Grandson loves learning to cook and help me in the kitchen.

Rose Ann James, Birdsboro, PA
I really think that you guys should get a recipe for sloppy joes. That would be awesome!

Mary Kay, Green Bay, WI
Our school district offers pizza everyday and my son was stuck on it. I asked the school to drop it off the menu at least once a week if not two. I'm the only one who thinks that pizza is not fit for good eating habits. The school doesn't agree. Please give me your thoughts on this. There is a meeting coming up and I would love to use your comments. Thank you.

Moving state to state not being able to share recipes with any neighbors I love that you have taken the time to compose and update a site such as informing as this one I love it.

It is hard to be alone with two active kids when a husband is traveling. Ask them to take turns choosing what they want for dinner. One can set the table, while the other one helps to prepare the food. Have a night out where no one cooks, if you can.

Helen, Hartford, CT
I love to join your club and have advice from you for my six and seven years old daughters about what they should eat and when.

Janna, Ocean Side, L.
I would love to get tips on how to eat healthy.

Danielle, Waipahu, HI
Overweight runs in our family. I want a healthy balanced meal plan for growing children so that my daughters don't ever have food or weight issues and need guidance. How many calories do children need? I don't want them to be hungry and feel the need to snack on the "wrong" stuff. Any tips would be appreciated.

Rosanne, Medford, MA
Both my kids know how to cook. I have a 9 yr old girl and a 12 yr old boy. My boy likes to cook more than my girl. He said he may become a chef someday. Anyway I picked up lots of cool recipe books cheap at my library and they love it. I let them pick whatever they want to make and then we do the shopping together. Then they are on their own. I have never had a bad dinner yet. I also let my son do whatever he wants with some basic stuff like chicken and he just loves to use spices and everything is awesome. Give them the room to learn and do it and they will blow your mind with what they can do.

Darlene, Zhills, FL
To Nancy in Round Rock Texas, Nice to hear your kid's a geniuos, not all kids get it. Maybe you should help and do something rather than sit ... and dish it out.

Steve Widomski, El Mirage, AZ
I like food, and I love ice cream. How can I find a healthier alternative?

Melanie, Menomonie, WI
Most of these recipies for children look vile, i wouldnt even eat half of them, let alone my son.

Courtney, Peoria, IL
My old school used to serve pizza, burgers and french fries every day and most of the time it wasn't even good pizza! My new school has healthier and tastier options.

Vicky, New York City, NY
My family was stuck on potato chips for snacks, so i decided to use a dehydrator and slice up bananas strawberries and apples, sprinkled cinnamon, and now they love the fruit chips! its easy to make, and healthy as well.

Anne Collins, Cincinnati, OH
I need help! My 7 year old son eats quite well with a nice balance of vegies, fruits, carbs, etc. However, my 8 y.o. daughter is the pickiest eater I have ever encountered. Her main food group is bread and peanut butter. I have tried everything I can think of to improve her diet but she shuns everything. I've tried sneaking food but she catches on. I've tried bribing but it doesn't work. I've tried including her in the choosing and cooking process but in the end... she still won't eat but a few things. HELP!!!!!

Mike Fitzer, Louisville, KY
i tell my son that if he doesnt eat his fruits and vegies then the boogy monster would eat him!

Samantha, Dallas, TX
This webby has no burger recipes in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tom, UK, UK
I have 3 kids and two of my kids dont like vegie especially my youngest son i had a very difficult time for him to eat. His favorite meal is noodles ready to eat which is not healthy.

Emilie Susara, San Juan, Ph
For some it's common sense..for others it's not. Get you kids in the kitchen with you. The earlier, the better. Even if they just help you stir something, it will spark their interest to eat healthy for life. Cook with fresh, real foods (fruits, veggies, etc.) everyday, stay away from anything with "hydrogenated oils" or "high fructose corn syrup" (found in most shelf items), get you heart rate up a little everyday. If you eat real food and avoid processed ones, you will lose a considerable amount of weight naturally.. Courtney, what exactly do you & you son eat? I just hope your not calling these recipes vile while hotdogs & doritos are staples in your home.

Michelle, Piedmont, CA
I think you guys need to put on a recipe for child's snacks hat serves more than one serving and also really healthy hat would be enjoyable.

Aubree, Norman, OK
To Mike in Louisville, I'm a Family & Consumer Sciences Teacher w/grad course work in Nutrition...Quit pressuring her unless you want to deal with an eating disorder later. Just keep offering new things and keep nutritious foods available. Try the natural peanut butters too, they're a little dryer and definitely less sweet and be sure to use whole grain breads. At least that way you're maximizing the nutritive value of what she will eat...Get her to start picking recipes and helping to prepare the foods she picks. When they have ownership, they're more likely to eat...

Julie, Justin, TX
Coming from a parent of a picky eater, it is not as easy as some of you may think. Try this, try that. It does not always work. My 11 yr old, loves to bake and cook..but not eat everything she cooks...not even try. She loves to garden, but again won't eat what she grows. Instead she shares everything. I have resorted to hiding veggies and fruits. You would be surprised where.. Pureed baby foods go a long way. The amount offered in stage 2, is the perfect size. Pureed Prunes in place of oil in brownie mixes or choco cake mixes. Pureed green veggies in pizza sauce or meatball sauce pureed carrots in tunafish Pureed fruits (ur choice) in place of oil in cake recipes and cookie recipes. Pureed Veggies in meatloaf or homemade cheeseburgers or taco mixes. Also Fresh Spinach..in small amounts pieced a part and added to lettuce in a salad or on tacos...kids can not tell the difference. Just don't let them see it.

Veronica, Newmarket, NH
Try vanilla yogurt with grapes and apples dipped in and just a few walnuts! DELISH! Its a good snack or little breakfast.
