Healthy Chocolate Recipes and Tips
Chocolate is a treat like no other…and it’s good for you! What is it about chocolate? Decadent, luscious, luxurious, rich, complex…it’s a treat like no other. A bite of chocolate can finish a meal or start a romance. It is meant to be slowly savored, like a cold drink or a warm embrace. And now comes the news that chocolate is actually good for you…talk about too good to be true. But in fact, researchers have discovered that moderate amounts of flavanol-rich dark chocolate has a blood-thinning effect, which can benefit cardiovascular health, and it may also boost the immune system by reducing inflammation. Don’t you just love science? We do love chocolate, and have devised a number of rich, delicious recipes to showcase our favorite indulgence. Recipes | Tips

Chocolate Cooking TipsTo melt chocolate in a microwave, place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on medium for 1 minute. Stir well, then continue microwaving on medium, stirring every 20 seconds, until mostly melted. Stir until the remaining melts completely. No Microwave? Melt chocolate in a double boiler instead: Place chopped chocolate in the top of a double boiler over hot, but not boiling water. Gently stir until the chocolate is almost melted. Remove from the heat and stir until it melts completely. For decorative drizzling on cookies or cakes, spoon melted chocolate into a small plastic bag, snip off a corner and squeeze.
