Just like the other reviews I followed the directions exactly and it came out horrible. The directions about cooking the egg mixture was unclear and although I knew it didn't look right I didnt want to mess up the directions so I followed it exactly and when I woke up in the morning the cake was like soup. I'm so dissappointed because I was looking forward to cooking this pie and now I not only wasted my time but ingredients as well. Live and learn I guess.

My pie did the same thing, and I felt I cooked the filling quite awhile. Refrigerated overnight and had to throw it all away.

I have to agree with you. I love all EatingWell recipes, but this is not looking like it will turn out. I still have some cooling time left..

I am sorry to read that your pie did not work and sorry that the instructions were not clear enough. The filling will also thicken visually as the bubbles appear around the edges; the amount of time it takes to get to this stage varies a lot depending on your stove and the temperature of your mixture. The bubbles should look more like it's boiling around the edges rather than just a little frothy from stirring the mixture; the mixture will be steaming and should start to feel thick as you stir.
I hope you give it another try and just go a little longer on the filling. We've had great feedback from other readers and think you will fall in love with how easy this recipe is with just one more try. Again, sorry to disappoint and thank you so much for letting us know about your experience.
