First, make half a batch, 6 cups??? Cut the chili powder by about 2/3, the salt by 1/2 and add a little sugar or stevia to cut the bitterness.

These spicy nuts were inspired by ones sold by street vendors across Mexico. If you can only find salted peanuts, omit the added salt. Add the maximum amount of cayenne pepper if you want an extra hit of spice.

We made these chili lime peanuts tonight and thought they were delicious. We ended up pretty much doubling the amount of lime because we could not taste it at first. We did just one teaspoon of cayenne pepper and it was the perfect amount for me.
was quite tasty... i used only one spoon of chili powder as i wanted only a hint of spicy... no cayenne... also used 2 limes... otherwise quite nice flavor... plain almonds can be boring... i had a bag i bought on sale and wanted it to have some flavor... i personally think that 6 spoons of chili would have been inedible to my taste... if you want a lil kick, use only 1 spoon...
Needed a recipe with little salt so put in the minimum. Tasty, and the 'heat' grows on you. Will be passing on the recipe.
I have been making my own seasoned nuts for several years and have been waiting for a chili lime version, this one did it for me! Yummy! Added a bit more lime for my taste and mixed chili powders to include ancho chili for a depth of flavor.
