Chile-Lime Peanuts

November/December 2010

Your rating: None Average: 3.6 (28 votes)

These spicy nuts were inspired by ones sold by street vendors across Mexico. If you can only find salted peanuts, omit the added salt. Add the maximum amount of cayenne pepper if you want an extra hit of spice.

Plenty hot enough!

Needed a recipe with little salt so put in the minimum. Tasty, and the 'heat' grows on you. Will be passing on the recipe.
Thanks!

Mimics store brought tastes home mde

I have been making my own seasoned nuts for several years and have been waiting for a chili lime version, this one did it for me! Yummy! Added a bit more lime for my taste and mixed chili powders to include ancho chili for a depth of flavor.

Less salt and less oils than purchased varities, super easy

Not Much Flavor

I made these for my husband, who loves store-bought chile lime nuts. We were both surprised that they do not really taste like anything, even with the max amount of Cayenne. We don't like to waste food, so we will eat them. However, we won't be making them again.
