Patti Anderson, a professional quilter, had never entered a cooking contest before she took our challenge. This quick, no-fuss, chewy chocolate cookie is made on your waffle iron. No need to haul out the big mixer, you can mix the batter with a small hand mixer or even by hand. Kids love these!

Just made these for the holidays, and they were fantastic! Best when fresh and warm. Tasty with a little vanilla coconut milk ice cream on top. Yum! Can't wait to make these again next December!


I just made these and wanted to let people know they taste more like brownies than cookies. They were still good, but I was looking for a cookie recipe and feel like I got snookered.


They look great but is it possible to make them without a waffle iron? I don't have one!

Personally from reading the recipe, it seems more like a chocolate waffle than a cookie. Waffles are a desert in Belgium(the belgian waffle, topped with fruit, cream, maple syrup, cinnamon). And generally pancake batter is used in a waffle iron. Perhaps try frying them on the stove top, in small medallion shapes. Of course you wouldn't get the grid marks. I'd recommend low heat and cooking spray rather than cooking oil, to get results similar to a waffle iron. And of course top with icing sugar :)


Having only a half hour to get ready for my in-laws to visit, I made these hoping to impress. They are quick, clean, easy, and delicious!
