These were my first attempt at cookies, ever, and they turned out fantastic which speaks volumes for the recipe. They don't look anything like the picture, retaining the less than uniform shape they had going into the oven, but they taste SO GOOD.
I substituted no sugar added applesauce for the oil, changed the additions to 2/3 bittersweet chips and 2/3 walnuts, and made smaller cookies (i got 40, and that's after several 'taste tests' of the dough). I wish I'd gotten a finer ground flour, pastry perhaps... but they are a perfect 75 calorie (by my recipe and tracker) sweet tooth satisfier and I will be making them again. Soon, because they're going very quickly.
