  • Scrub the potatoes, and prick with a fork. Stir together the apples, rum, butter, vinegar, and cinnamon in a 6-quart slow cooker; top with the sweet potatoes. Cover and cook on LOW until the potatoes are tender, about 6 hours. Remove the potatoes, and cut in half lengthwise; sprinkle evenly with the salt and pepper. Top the sweet potato halves with the apple mixture and pecans. Sprinkle evenly with the sage leaves, if desired.
