1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 small clove garlic, minced
¼ teaspoon chili powder
⅛ teaspoon ground cumin
Dash crushed red pepper (optional)
1 slice ( ½ inch thick) slice crusty whole-grain bread (2 ounces total), cut lengthwise into 2 "sticks"
Combine butter, garlic, chili powder, cumin, and, if desired, crushed red pepper in a small bowl. Brush mixture evenly over bread portions.
For a charcoal grill, grill bread on the rack of an uncovered grill directly over medium coals about 4 minutes or until golden brown, turning often to brown evenly. (For a gas grill, preheat grill. Reduce heat to medium. Place bread on grill rack over heat. Cover and grill as above.) Serve warm.
