Harissa Mackerel & Endive

“Harissa, the flavorful chili paste from Tunisia, gives this mackerel salad a spicy punch. If you need an alternative, try another chili paste, such as gochujang, sambal oelek or chile-garlic paste.”


    • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
    • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
    • 2 teaspoons harissa
    • Pinch of salt
    • 1 (4 ounce) can oil-packed mackerel, drained
    • 16 Treviso and/or endive spears
    • 2 teaspoons minced chives


  • 1 Whisk mayonnaise, lemon juice, harissa and salt in a small bowl. Flake the mackerel into small chunks and stir in. Top each endive spear with about 1 tablespoon mackerel mixture and garnish with chives.
