The quick-and-easy lemon and soy marinade on this flank steak is so flavorful! The steak takes about 20 minutes to grill and may just become your new favorite summer grilling recipe.

  • 1- to 1¼-pound beef flank steak
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup dry red wine
  • ¼ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon celery seeds
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt

  1. Score both sides of steak in a diamond pattern by making shallow diagonal cuts at 1-inch intervals. Place steak in a resealable plastic bag set in a shallow dish. For marinade, in a small bowl, combine green onions, the water, wine, soy sauce, lemon juice, oil, garlic, celery seeds, pepper and salt. Pour over meat. Seal bag; turn to coat meat. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours or up to 24 hours, turning bag occasionally.
  2. Drain steak discarding marinade. Place steak on the rack of an uncovered grill directly over medium coals. Grill for 17 to 21 minutes or until medium doneness (160°F), turning once halfway through grilling time. Thinly slice steak diagonally across the grain.
