  • To prepare Honey and Spice "Pickles": In a medium bowl, combine buttermilk, cider vinegar, honey, salt and cayenne pepper. Add cucumber and onion; toss to coat. Cover and chill 4 to 24 hours, stirring occasionally. Drain before serving.

  • To prepare the Sloppy Joes: In a large skillet, cook beef, mushrooms, onion, green sweet pepper, and garlic over medium heat until meat is browned. Drain off fat, if necessary.

  • Stir in the tomato sauce, brown sugar, mustard, vinegar, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook and stir 1 to 2 minutes or until heated through.

  • Drain pickles. Serve meat mixture in buns with pickles.
