Snow Banks Sparkling-Wine Cocktail

“In this simple sparkling-wine cocktail, lemon juice and simple syrup make a tart-and-sweet bubbly drink.”
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
½ ounce Simple Syrup
½ ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
4 ounces chilled sparkling wine, such as Prosecco
Lemon twist for garnish
1To prepare simple syrup: Bring sugar and water to a boil in a medium saucepan, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar. Let cool for 30 minutes and then refrigerate until cold, at least 1 hour. Makes about 1½ cups.
2To prepare an individual cocktail: Combine ½ ounce of the simple syrup and lemon juice in a champagne flute. Top with sparkling wine and garnish with a lemon twist.
Make Ahead Tip: Cover and refrigerate the Simple Syrup (Step 1) for up to 6 months.
