Very Tasty! Made this for dinner and it was very good. My husband recently had a heart attack so I used only pinches of salt and no sodium chicken stock. My favorite part was the sauce which I thankfully did not reduce to 1 cup. I believe I would have loved the meat balls just as much as the sauce if I wasn't t being so conservative with salt. I served meatballs over rice and paired with a fresh strawberry vinaigrette salad
Maybe I did something wrong... I look forward to trying this again. I need up having to put my meatballs in the oven because they were not done. But that's my fault for not trusting my gut and taking them out when they were only brown (per the recipe) and not done. A misunderstanding on my part I guess. I also doubled the sauce using cornstarch instead of the flour. I added more chicken broth too. Other then that it's a wonderful dish that I can't wait to make again. Pros: Delicious Cons: Had to make a few important modifications
Worth the effort! The lemon flavor is strong in this but that's not a con - just something to be aware of if you're expecting a hint of lemon. This was well worth the effort. I made it as instructed except left out the zest (i only had bottled lemon juice no real lemons) and thought it was great. I will probably try making the meatballs smaller next time. No question i'll be making it again!
Try this one I have modifyed for no carbs. For a no carb alternative: add 1 egg and leave out bread crumbs no wine but add 1 tablespoon of worcheshire. I sauted mushrooms and added a bag of fresh spinich and wilted. Cooked some cauliflower in chicken broth with salt and pepper 1 tsp butter then pureed. To assemble add cooked spinach a layer of cauliflower puree and meatballs and sauce. I used a large soup bowl. Pros: great taste easy to make
Terrific with minor modifications This is a terrific recipe that is now in my standard repertoire. Just a couple of comments. Like a couple of other reviewers I double the sauce. It's delicious and there isn't enough. Also the meatballs are a bit small if you make them as called for. They are also very delicate and I found that the addition of one egg as a binder helped a good deal. Otherwise a fantastic find! Pros: Delicious super flavorful Cons: Not enough sauce; meatballs to small and delicate
A hit in our family! I LOVE this recipes my whole family does as well I follow the exact recipe except for that I use Thyme instead of Rosemary. I serve with lemon garlic baby dutch potatoes. Amazing! Definitely one of my favorite meals.
Don't pass up this recipe! I have made this so many times it is now on permanent rotation. I always use ground chicken and it is super moist. Serve it with whole wheat couscous and your friends and family will think you are a master chef! Pros: Super easy; impressive Cons: none
Delicious! These were delicious and easy to make! Full of flavor. I used all fresh ingredients and it worked out well. The only downside to this recipe is the sauce does not yield nearly enough to cover the to meatballs. Next time I will double the recipe. Pros: Easy to make Cons: Sauce yield
Definitely a keeper My husband raved about the dish and said it was something he would expect from a fine restaurant. Really it is very flavorful and the lemon flavor comes through while still blending nicely with the rosemary and wine flavors. I wanted to be sure there was a good amount of sauce left so I did not reduce to one cup as directed in recipe. Served with egg noodles and green peas. I also used 1.25 lbs ground turkey and got 18 good sized meatballs. The recipe is more involved (cooked meatballs in 3 batches transferred meatballs back and forth into the pan a couple of times zested lemon two reductions of sauce) than what I typically do and I had more dishes and utensils to clean so probably won't cook this again on a low energy night. But it was well worth the extra work. Pros: Healthy alternative to beef and pork Cons: More work than I usually put into a dinner main course
Absolutely Delicious!! I knew this was going to be good! I used 1/2 ground chicken and 1/2 ground turkey. I combined the meal with the following recipes...kale chips and green and yellow green beans with wild mushrooms...although I used cremini mushrooms!
Yummy This was rated a 9 by my kids-- delicious with a lemony taste. Very flavorful-- would just add more broth and thickened the sauce with corn starch to make it delicousl...... Pros: another way to use ground turkey Cons: needs a little more sauce
These are fantastic These are so good. I was impressed with all the flavor. Made it as recipe call for but forgot to add the butter - didn't notice it until re-reading the recipe. Next time I might add a Tsp of capers. Served with egg noodles (less healthy but so yummy) Pros: flavorful healthy Cons: a bit of work
Delicious These were delicious! A very sophisticated-tasting meatball. I was able to prepare the meatballs ahead of time and store covered in fridge. I also used only ground turkey breasts and the meatballs were perfectly moist. The gravy was very tasty and my whole family loved the meal. Served with whole heat egg noodles. Pros: family-friendly make-ahead
Great meatballs! These meatballs were very moist and flavorful. The sauce was the best part though. I used only chicken broth as I didn't have a bottle of white wine open. I think I might have reduced it a bit too much because I didn't have a cup left but it was really really good!
Delicious! Really simple recipe and great even without lemon zest and bottled lemon juice (used what I had.) I would probably double the sauce next time as it really is supper and makes the dish. Plus if you serve with rice as I did the rice soaks up the sauce and that is so good too! Pros: easy not a bite left Cons: none
Better than I thought it would be I don't know why I was skeptical of this recipe. I liked all the ingredients but for some reason didn't think it would go well with turkey and thought the meatballs themselves would be dry. But I tried it because I happened to have all the ingredients already. It was fabulous! It 's also very light and fresh tasting and sometimes that's just what you're looking for. I added more garlic (because I just can't help myself) and also doubled the sauce. I served with steamed carrots and whole wheat noodles (like egg noodles). Fabulous! My husband likes my cooking in general but he is definitely a super fan of this dish. And it's healthy! Total bonus! Pros: light and fresh Cons: nada!
Super Yummy This was so delicious. My husband who usually turns his nose up at ground turkey was even impressed with this recipe. I served the meatballs with soba noodles and a fresh garden salad. Will definitely make again! Pros: Quick tasty
