I have been making this recipe regularly for 6 years! It's easy delicious and healthy. I add a large diced zucchini to add some nutrition and volume - I love zucchini but even if you don't you can't taste it in this. I often use the mixture for tacos or as a dip with nacho chips.
I'm not very experienced in the kitchen but this was easy to follow and quick to make with an outstanding result. I'm probably my toughest critic when it comes to testing the results of my dishes and I have to say I love love love this dish. The salsa is the key if you purchase a good brand that you've tried before you will have success. The only change I made was the cheese I had old cheddar on hand so I used that and it was stellar.
Delicious! Hearty and flavorful without being too heavy. Quick enough for a weeknight. This was a nice chili variation in that wasn't so tomato-y. I made a vegan version with Beyond Beef Crumbles. Aside from that followed the recipe exactly. Put some avocado slices on top.
Has Some Kick! We made this chili yesterday for the football game. It was yummy. I added tomato paste and threw the whole chili into a crockpot. I used hot green salsa and added a bit more chili power. It had just enough umpth to it. I served it with cheese on top. What a great way to start the week. Pros: It has just enough umpth to it. Tasty! I don't think I've ever made a beef chili with enchilada sauce or salsa. I used both btw as I happened to have half a jar of each opened from other recipes. I used a yellow bell instead of a red and topped off the bowls with a mix of onion jalapeno cilantro and lime. Everyone devoured it!
Turkey Chili Verde was my Version Followed the recipe for the most part but substituted the beef for lean ground turkey as that's what I had. I added stewed tomatoes and 3/4 cup of water as I used both pinto and kidney beans... My teenage boys loved it and we stuffed with just one bowl which was surprising as teenage boys can eat.:) Pros: Simple and Healthy Cons: None
Easy and Delicious From somewhere who is not experienced in the kitchen this recipe was super easy and delicious. It didn't require too many ingredients that I did not already own and was very quick. I followed someone else's review and used ground turkey and it came out great!

Our go-to recipe easy and delicious! My husband and I love this recipe we top it with a little reduced fat Mexican cheese and avocado and add ghost pepper salsa for extra heat. It's so fast and easy is perfect for a weeknight dinner and is tasty left over as well.

A recipe to keep in your file This is a great recipe. It's so easy to change and make it your own. For example I changed the amount of garlic to 3 cloves. I made it ahead of time and the flavors melded together beautifully. Did not have to spend time cooking when my guests arrived. Used Pace medium Salsa which is a perfect replacement for canned tomatoes that have a lot of sugar. Great for diabetics. Pros: Great make ahead meal. Cons: None
A new go-to chili recipe! This was amazing! I've always used my mom's recipe but wanted to find one a bit thinner and with more diversity in flavor. This chili was perfect! I did make a few changes: ground turkey instead of beef added salt & pepper (to taste) and added about 2 tbsp of Ketchup to add some sweetness. Perfect! Pros: Delicious and easy
Green salsa made for a nice change from traditional chilli. Used 2 cans of kidney beans and added small can of organic tomato paste to thicken. (great idea shared by another member). Topped with a dollop of low-fat sour cream and shredded Monterey. Delicious This is a fast easy yummy & different take on regular old chili. I can only find green salsa with medium heat so I omit the cayenne because we don't like food too spicy in our house. Serve over brown rice with some lowfat cheddar & sour cream and scallions. Pros: Easy

This is a good chili recipe considering the beef called for is very lean. Tried it the first few times following the recipe exactly - the final result - I reduced the cumin by 1/2 switched up red salsa for green ( green salsa has a little to much heat!) now its a weekly meal!!! Play around with different brand salsas you'll get a unique flavor from each one.
I really liked this very satisfying. I ended up adding an extra can of beans (both kidney and pinto) plus some green pepper too. I used the World Table green salsa from Walmart. I split it up into 5 servings instead of 4 and it came out at 339 calories per serving (carefully weighing and measuring everything) but it tastes like more to me!

So Easy So Good! I really liked this recipe. I did both kidney and pinto beans and added a can of diced tomatoes with out the broth. It was so easy and tasted delicious. Top with a little bit of cheese and plain yogurt for 'sour cream' and you've got a hearty healthy meal. Be careful if using fresh chili powder....may get extremely spicy!!
I don't get it... Sorry but we did not enjoy this at all. Next time i'll stick to my white chili recipe. WAYY too much cumin not enough spice why even suggest taco sauce? I think this would be much better with the enchilada sauce and perhaps chicken broth instead of water. If i were to make it again (I won't) I would also half the cumin and add a can of diced green chiles. Pros: N/A Cons: Too much cumin taco sauce?? it was not cool..
The perfect quick meal I made this after coming home for a long day of errands. I was able to feed the very hungry family within 30 minutes start to finish. It was wonderful. I served it over rice with fresh cilantro and queso fresco cheese. It was a filling meal for sure. Will be making this again. Pros: Quick and Easy
Best Chili! This is my go to recipe for chili when I don't make chili con carne. I used ground pork to make it more like true chili verde a green pepper no cayenne & salsa verde. (Be careful of the jarred salsa. It can vary in spicyness) It is a little spicy but it is so perfect on a cold winters day especially with home made corn bread or muffins. This tasted so good but I bought the green jalepeno salsa by mistake. this really makes it to spicy to eat for most people I managed a few bites my kids couldn't eat it at all. So be careful and pay attention to what salsa you get 16 oz of jalepenos is really to much! amy madisonville tn

I love when healthy recipes are delicious and this one was! Very easy and quick. Under 40 minutes from start to finish including a quick healthy cornbread from scratch. The nutritional analysis states a serving has 516 mg sodium but if sodium intake isn't an issue for you I would suggest a bit of salt to season the ground beef. Dawn Richmond VA
I thought this dish sounded good when I read the recipe and liking chili I decided to give it a try. All of the ingredients were easy to find at the local Wal Mart and it was just as easy to prepare. The only struggle I had was preparing the garlic. I made two pots. One using salsa verde and the other using a medium chunky salsa. Both were good but the one with the salsa verde was easily the better of the two. It has a more "seasoned" flavor. Oh if you don't like "hot" food don't let the use of cayenne scare you. Good flavor. Had to add extra chili powder some jalapeno and scotch bonnets. I used Desert Pepper rio salsa which has a great flavor. If you're wanting to eat it as chili and not taco filling I'd recommend adding another can of beans though. Also threw in some fresh corn.
I would have to say this was AWESOME! I made it more as a soup added a little more enchilada sauce added cheese and sour cream to the top and then used a spoon and tortilla chips to eat it. Really good!
I tried out this receipe a few months ago and have made it 4x since. It's so delicious and perfect for a cold day. The flavors blend together beautifully! I love my chili topped with shredded cheese and sour cream. In order to up the protein and keep calories down I use non-fat greek yogurt instead of the sour cream.
This was really good. I used ground turkey instead of beef to lower the calories even more and then I used my own salsa made from rotel cilantro jalepeno's and onion. Very tasty and has stayed with me!

THE BEST CHILI ever!!!!!!!!!!! I made this a week or so ago-- and everyone loved it. I changed up somethings and sorta doubled the recipe. I ended up using a GREEN SALSA and adding a can of diced tomatos among other things. BUT it was thick and filling- A GREAT MEAL! I just served with cornbread... but many ate it with chips! I can not stress enough how GREAT this recipe is!!!

Very thick and filling. I felt that one can of beans left the chili rather sparse (I'm a big bean fan) so I put in two cans of beans. I tried it both as plain chili and wrapped in whole grain soft shell tortillas. I personally prefer it served in tortillas. Very delicious!!

Substituted soy "meat" crumbles for the ground beef since I'm a vegetarian and it was delish. My husband LOVED it which surprised me since he doesn't like verde sauce of any kind. Definitely will make again.
Super easy recipe that has a great kick to it! Even using a salsa verde that was lower in Sodium than many of the others I found at the store it was still a bit on the salty side for my personal tastes. I toned it down with some frozen corn and a chopped tomato. Tasted great. Next time I think I'll try adding some cooked elbow noodles. I may not be able to legitimately call it "chili" after that but I think that'll better suit the needs of my more "delicate" palate.: )

Wow! So good. Since I'm a single gal I kept the amounts of the recipe the same but substituted half a lb of ground turkey perfect amount to bring lunch to work for a few days. I also added diced tomatoes and a can of gold & white corn. I used Herdez salsa verde my grocery store didn't carry too many options but this worked out well. Healthy delicious and super easy!
Not bad...it was pretty spicy but that was the goal. I added some cilantro into the mix and ate it with flour tortillas. Best thing is I have enough for the rest of the week! I will probably make this again sometime.
I have never commented on any recipe before and this is one of my FAVORITE recipes! My husband really likes it and he actually doesn't care for traditional chili but loves the spices etc. in this one. It's a keeper and I will continue to make it for years to come!!
I too never post comments or reviews but had to share my enthusiasm for this recipe. It is simply delicious!!!! Definitely best chili I've ever tasted but also one of the best meals I've ever had! I make it with ground lean turkey to make it even healthier and I love love the flavor. The green enchilada sauce definitely complements the ground turkey. Instead of putting a dallop of sour cream I put greek plain yogurt instead which makes it yet another step healthier. During the fall/winter months I make this at the beginning of the week and divide it into Tupperware for lunches at work. I always look forward to my lunch unlike other days when I pack sandwiches or chicken dishes that dry out after microwaving.
This is my absolute favorite chile recipe ever. My husband actually requests this meal! I definitely add more/various types of beans to the recipe and use more salsa verde because I like it spicy. Overall this recipe rocks!
This recipe was great and so quick. I used 94% lean ground turkey added some corn and also added a little tomato paste to thicken it up and give it some color. I only used an 8 oz jar of green taco sauce because I didn't realize it called for a 16oz. I had to add a little extra water. It still came out great. I think you can do a lot w/this recipe!

Excellent but be careful of the sodium content First I really enjoyed this recipe and served it with a 1/2 cup of quinoa (with a squeeze of lime) like the EatingWell diet menu suggested. It was quick and easy to make and I loved the flavor. However I used a separate recipe calculator to determine the nutrition facts based on 90%-lean ground beef and found that the bottled salsa verde I used drastically increased the sodium content of the meal ( 500mg increased to 1600mg). When I make this in the future I'll use a homemade recipe for salsa verde to cut back on the sodium content. Pros: Quick Easy Tasty Cons: Sodium may be higher than reported
Delicious It was fantastic!! While cooking the beef onions and bell pepper I added about 2 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce to make it more flavorful. Smelled and tasted great. I also added a small can (4 tbsp) of tomato paste and about 2 tbsp of chile-garlic sauce to the recipe. Everyone loved it. Pros: I never had salsa verde before but it was very good.
Great jiffy chili! This was a very easy weeknight meal just as tasty as a chili simmered for hours. I used 2 lb ground beef and 2 cans beans and kept other ingredients in the stated quantities. Luckily I tasted the salsa verde before adding it as it was very hot. Ended up using half the jar and half a jar of mild red salsa. Added a bit of additional water to achieve the consistency I was looking for. With grated cheddar chopped green onions light sour cream and a side dish of raw veg dinner was on the table in a jiffy. Best Chile EVER!! I'm very particular about chili. I live in the south so most chilis here are spicy and I don't like spicy. My husband is a HUGE chili fan and I wanted to find a healthy recipe for chili because we are both trying to eat heathier. This recipe was FANTASTIC!! It wasn't HOT and it wasn't "blah". I made one small change by adding an extra can of beans. (I used one can pinto and one can kidney.) Before I served it I lightly spinkled some shreaded cheese on top. I'm still new to cooking so whenever I make something I'll put some off to the side to bring to my mother. She raved about it even bringing some over to my grandparents who also loved it. My husband said it was the best chili he'd ever eaten and I completely agree.
excellant LOVED IT!!! Ive never made chili before cause lets face it no one can make chili like my dad but i am SO GLAD i did. It is fantastic quick and simple. I did put extra lime juice and added ciltranto to it plus used Rotel instead of verde sauce but still awesome. However it was a little spicy for my kids so i might reduce the amount of heat next time.
No saucy enough... This recipe made as is is not saucy enough or spicy enough. I should have added some things to touch it up. Tasted better on fritos as frito pie with cheese on top but this makes it very unhealthy. Tastes too boring on it's own. Pros: Great on Fritos as frito pie... Cons: too dry not spicy
Way too spicy....... I made this halving all of the spicy ingredients. I love the spice as does my husband but not kids not so much. It was the spiciest chile I have ever eaten! I have a recipe for chile that I make and it is no slouch but this was so spicy I almost couldn't eat it. It was very plain tasting not enough flavors and not enough beans.
