If at first you burn the snack mix...
350 for 40 minutes is way too hot and way too long for my small oven. I did the first 10 minutes between 350 and 325 and it had already started to burn. I only cooked it for 20 minutes total, the last 10 minutes way down to 250 degrees, but it was too late and the majority of the mix was burned.
The bits that were NOT burned, however, were tasty. I really wanted some snack mix so I tried again right away, cooking at only 200 degrees for 20 minutes, stirring every 4 minutes. 24 minutes might have been OK too if I had wanted them toastier (but still not burned!). The second try was a success! Tasty snack!
Pros: The cayenne is a great touch.
Cons: You need to be really, really familiar with your oven.
