This thirst-quenching pink lemonade recipe uses fresh cherries for the pretty pink hue and light flavor. If you like, add a splash of vodka, bourbon or rum to transform this healthy lemonade recipe into a refreshing summer cocktail.

  • 2 cups sweet cherries, pitted, plus whole cherries for garnish
  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 2½ cups cold water
  • Lemon slices for garnish

  1. Combine cherries, lemon juice and sugar in a blender. Puree until smooth. Strain through a fine sieve into a pitcher. Stir in water. Serve over ice, garnished with lemon and cherries.
  • Make Ahead Tip: Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 days; stir before serving.

I followed the recipe directions to a "t" and for all of the work and mess involved (pitting the cherries, chopping the cherries, blending the cherries, squeezing the lemons, straining the mixture), this simply wasn't worth the effort. It was good, but not the *wow!* that it should have been.

bourbon cherry limeade I modified this recipe slightly to create a bourbon cherry limeade cocktail. Pros: great flavor
