Great Cold, but Better Hot!
A quick and easy fix in the kitchen, very tasty too! I thought I'd like something warm on a cold day, so I lightly buttered the outsides of the whole wheat raisin bread first. Then I cooked the sausages in a skillet. After removing them from the heat, I chopped them up, then layered the sandwich with jam, shredded sharp cheddar, crumbled sausage, more cheddar, shaved apple slices and a bit more cheddar. Cooked it over low/med flame for a few minutes, flipped it, cooked for a few more minutes, then plated with the remaining shaved apple slices on the side. Warm, crispy on the outside, packed with flavor through and through. Yum!! A healthy variation on grilled cheese, but with much more flavor!
Pros: easy, quick, healthy, light but filling
