  • 4 large ripe bananas, peeled and cut into thirds crosswise
  • ¾ cup semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips, melted (see Tip)
  • ¼ cup shredded coconut

  • Active

  • Ready In

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Insert a popsicle stick into each piece of banana. Cover each piece with melted chocolate using a rubber spatula and sprinkle with coconut. (Reheat chocolate, as needed, to keep it melted.) Place the bananas on the baking sheet and freeze until frozen, about 2 hours.
  • Make Ahead Tip: Store airtight in the freezer for up to 1 week.
  • Equipment: 12 wooden popsicle sticks
  • Tip: To melt chocolate, microwave on Medium for 1 minute. Stir, then continue microwaving on Medium, stirring every 20 seconds, until melted. Or place chocolate in the top of a double boiler over hot, but not boiling, water. Stir until melted.
  • Storage smarts: For long-term freezer storage, wrap your food in a layer of plastic wrap followed by a layer of foil. The plastic will help prevent freezer burn while the foil will help keep off-odors from seeping into the food.

EPIC! OMG! The other day I was begging my sister to make me chocolate dipped banana's..and she didn't have the time...and so I suprised her with these and we are now addicted to putting coconut on frozen banana's. Why didn't we ever think of this in the first place!! OMG! OMG! Pros: coconut and chocolate Cons: nothing!

Easy and Indulgent Such any easy dessert! When the bananas are frozen, they take on a creamy texture, almost like frozen yogourt. I didn't end up dipping mine, but spreading the chocolate on them with a butter knife. I will try rolling them in nuts or sprinkles next time. : ) Pros: Easy, Fast

So easy and delicious! This is the perfect summer treat. They are super easy to make! I did end up "painting" the chocolate on the bananas with a spoon because the dipping wasn't working well. The finished product was better than I expected. It kinda made me realize that those Yonana machines (infomercial) might be good. When the banana froze, it had the consistency of frozen yogurt. So good! Will definitely make them again!

Yummy Treat I really enjoyed these. I felt like I was getting away with eating something naughty :o) I will try the prefrozen bananas next time. I found that when using the fresh bananas, the warm chocolate caused the banana's flesh to get slippery. Made for a difficult time. I used chopped peanuts and walnuts to dip them in.
