Bland This was so bland, I'm sorry. I had to add salsa, way more salt, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, black beans, and it still tasted nothing like tortilla soup. A total waste. Cons: Bland, pureed onions made a gross texture in the soup, I had to add so much to fix it

Great healthy soup I didn't use the canola oil as onions make their own liquid. I added diced carrots and garlic as well as celery to the saute. 1 can of black beans and I didn't puree any of it. I made a cilantro and lime rice and put it over it. Don't leave the lime out in the end...it makes the soup, awesome. Pros: A quick put together meal for nights you didn't think ahead.

I used chicken broth, Rotel tomatoes instead of salsa, 1 can of refried black beans so I didn't need to puree, added ground turkey, and served over cilantro and lime rice. Very yummy and hearty!

My son liked it also Added some minced carrots when sauteing the onion. Substituted 2 cups of chicken stock for some of the water What a great soup Pros: Everyone went back for seconds, easy to make

My husband asks for this soup all the time, it's amazing! Lots of zip to it without a lot of work. I put it on our regular meal rotation! Cons: Simple and fast

Good basic recipe ..Adding some smoked turkey ( or you can even use ' foturkey) cut into pieces is a great addition to this soup..I also added a can of drained ' Ranch beans' and that really made the flavor pop. I served w heated flour tortillas, and thats dinner!! Pros: Easy ingredients, so that you can ' amp up' the flavor .

I wouldn't change a thing I made this recipe just as is and the only thing that I might change is the use of chicken stock instead of water. I really liked this fast and easy soup. This soup is filling and could easily be served as a main dish with some hearty bread and a salad on the side. I will make this recipe again. Pros: Very filling soup

Black Bean Soup I add chopped red bell peppers, large onion to oil. Saute til translucent. Add chicken broth in place of water. I use Walmarts great Value black bean and corn salsa...one jar. Also I add 2 cups or more cooked elbow macaroni to the soup. Add a Tbls. more cumin...now you have a great soup! Pros: A quick tasty soup Cons: Needs a little more

This soup was very easy to make using the canned beans. I mixed it up a little and used black & Great Northern beans. I tasted it before adding extra ingredients and thought it was already very good but I went ahead and added some garlic and Mexican Oregano because I did not have quite enough salsa. (We put garlic in almost everything.) This was delicious! We have three boys with very different tastes but everyone had seconds of this one. Can't really think of any cons even if I tried. Thanks for sharing! Pros: Easy & inexpensive to make, can tailor recipe to different tastes, tastes delicious Cons: None!! :)
